Recognition of education

Some countries have concluded a special treaty with Russia, thanks to which the certificate of education is recognized automatically. Find out if your country of study is on this list by reading the information in this section.

When the recognition of education is not required

1. If a bilateral treaty is signed between the country of the education document issue and Russia, recognizing the documents of education and your document falls under its force, then it is enough to present to the admission committee of the university the original education document and notarized translation of the education document. The list of countries with which such treaties have been concluded is available on the website of the National Information Centre for the Recognition of Education and (or) Qualifications, Degrees and Titles Obtained in a Foreign State and on the page of the Rapid Assessment of the Existence of Agreements. Clarify the information on the need to recognize education in a particular country in the representation of Rossotrudnichestvo or in the Embassy of Russia in the country of receiving your education document.
   
   
2. If you have graduated from a university, the issued certificate of education which is automatically recognized in the Russian Federation. The list of such universities is approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. A current list of universities that do not require recognition is available on the website of the National Information Centre for the Recognition of Education and (or) Qualifications, Degrees and Titles Obtained in a Foreign State.

If your education document does not fall under any of the above categories, you need to pass the procedure of recognition of education and obtain a certificate of recognition of the foreign country document on the level of education and (or) Qualifications in the territory of the Russian Federation (hereinafter referred to as the Certificate of Education Recognition).

Where can you conduct the recognition procedure 

1. In Russia some universities have the right to independently recognize education. You can find a list of such universities on the website of the National Information Centre for the Recognition of Education and (or) Qualifications, Degrees and Titles Obtained in a Foreign State. If you apply to one of them, you should contact the staff of this university. You can find the necessary contacts on the university website.
   
   
2. In all other cases, applications must be submitted for recognition to the National Centre for the Recognition of Education and (or) Qualifications, Degrees and Titles Obtained in a Foreign State.
