Professional retraining of medical personnel

Professions

Professional retraining of doctors is the improvement of medical workers their professional level by updating existing and acquiring new knowledge in educational and scientific organizations. In the course of the retraining, doctors are learning modern techniques for solving professional problems; they learn best practices; they acquire skills to work at higher levels; Gain new knowledge and skills in specific disciplines to perform a new type of medical activity.

Professional retraining is important to distinguish from the second higher education, although at first glance they are very similar because in fact they have one goal - to get a new profession. Unlike the second higher, professional retraining can be completed not only in higher education institutions, but also in other educational institutions.

In addition, not only those with higher education but also those with secondary vocational education are allowed to undergo retraining. The professional retraining programs is completed with a diploma of such training, while the second higher education certificate is a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

According to the law, doctors can undergo professional retraining in:

·     Organizations of additional professional education;

·     Higher education institutions;

·     Professional educational organizations;

·     Scientific organizations providing training.

All these organizations use the programs approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for specific specialties in the training process.

Although the general rule is that persons with secondary professional education are allowed to undergo retraining, but only those who have completed higher medical education and have already studied at a medical school are eligible. In other words, the professional retraining for doctors is only for doctors.

This retraining is seen as a change in the professional direction of the already existing level of education and as an extension of the qualifications of the medical staff to adapt to new social and economic conditions, including to meet the requirements of international standards.

How PR passes

Retraining is provided by specialized training centers and universities.

You can take the professional retraining online or in person. It does not matter: the documents of education do not indicate in what form the training was received. So when choosing a format, focus only on your own interests and comfort.

According to the Law of Education, the minimum duration of a professional retraining course is 250 hours. But because of the large amount of information, educational centers usually offer training from 500 hours.

What is given after the study?

After the retraining, the medical worker receives a certificate of established model with an application - an insert with grades. Educational organizations enter information on documents issued in the Federal Register of Information on Education (FRIE).

Professional retraining entitles to perform medical activities in the new profession. But this does not mean that after obtaining a diploma you can start working in a new position: first you have to pass the initial specialized accreditation.
